The annual Learner Awards Ceremony was held yesterday, celebrating inspirational learners and their achievements over the past academic year.

The Coleg Gwent Creative Arts Department was honoured with the Silver Award for Further Education Team of the Year for an outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the children they work with every day.

Coleg Gwent Girls Rugby Academy keep their crown for the third year running after their 17-0 win against Llandovery College in The Welsh Rugby Union National Schools and Colleges U18 Finals.

Coleg Gwent students have competed against hundreds across the country as part of Skills Competition Wales. This year, 113 students demonstrated their ability, competence and knowledge, bringing home a combined total of 17 medals in gold, silver and bronze categories.

BTEC Sports Coaching and Development learner, Lloyd Sheppard, is an endurance athlete specialising in 10km running. With a real love for sport, he decided to pursue a BTEC in the subject he loves at Crosskeys Campus.

Congratulations to three talented Coleg Gwent students who have been selected from hundreds of competitors to represent the United Kingdom in the WorldSkills UK National Squad.
