Apprenticeship - Plumbing and Heating Level 3

In a nutshell

An apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating is a 4 year course where you are employed by a Plumbing & Heating or construction company and attend college 1 day/week.

This course is for...

While on site with your employer you will be gaining skills and experience working on plumbing and heating jobs. At first, you will be doing low level jobs and helping qualified plumbers to do their work; but over time, you will gain experience and learn about Central Heating systems, Hot & Cold systems and Sanitary (bathroom suites and showers).

Course content

Technical training is provided in the college 1 day per week, including time in practical workshops.

You will study a variety of subject-specific modules, in addition to Literacy and Numeracy skills if required.

The programme is delivered through a blend of the following:

Practical sessions with excellent workshop facilities
Training in a realistic work environment
Theory lessons in well-equipped classrooms
Work Based assessor visits
Discussions
Demonstrations
1:1 and group tutorial sessions

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 3 GCSE Grade A*-C in English or Welsh, Mathematics and either a Science or Technology based qualification.
and

You should have achieved a Level 1 or Level 2 post-16 qualification in Construction or have at least one year of life skills gained after compulsory education.
and

Apprentices must have an employer who can cover the apprenticeship qualification criteria.

Additional information

This apprenticeship can be completed in 3 years if you hold a Level 2 Core in Construction or Building Services Engineering which are also available via our full and part-time offer.
