Coleg Gwent has the choice and support you need

Making decisions about your future can be challenging, especially when you’re still in school studying for GCSEs.

With six unique local centres, Coleg Gwent offers a huge range of courses and as much support as you get in school.

We pride ourselves on our facilities, with everything you need to develop your skills in a professional environment. These range from our renewable energy training centre – the Baxi Academy which boasts the latest energy technology to our state-of-the-art music studio and performance theatre.

If you want to study A Levels with us, you have a choice from 34 subjects on offer from graphic design to philosophy. In 2017 our A Level pass rates were above the UK and Wales averages with an overall pass rate of 99%.

You can find out more about what it’s like to study at college by coming along to one of our open events where you can chat to lecturers and get the advice you need.

We know there’s more to student life than what you learn in the classroom. Our enrichment programme offers you lots of opportunities to make new friends and gain valuable life skills, such as volunteering, sport, music and drama and clubs and societies.

There is also the chance to get involved in enterprise activities and boost your employability, developing skills such as effective problem solving and team work. You’ll have the support of Careers Wales and other outside organisations which help build your CV, offer mock interviews and provide work placements.

We also offer you the chance to improve your career prospects in your subject area, such as the Home Building Skills Partnership for brickwork students. It’s a six-week fast track ‘boot camp’ where you can develop and demonstrate your skills to an employer. Following an end assessment, you could move onto the home builder’s site as an employee.

We also host an employability week in the School of Creative Arts which has seen a number of professional role models such as choreographers, actors, producers and arts directors visit and share their expertise in a series of workshops.

We’re committed to making sure you get the most out of your college experience; in addition to having your own personal tutor, if think you might have chosen the wrong course our ‘Don’t Drop, Swap’ scheme will allow you to change easily.

Coleg Gwent lecturers have years of industry experience behind them so you learn from experts. One such person is lecturer Gareth Jones who holds the highly coveted role of WorldSkills Expert for Electrical Installation and has recently returned from accompanying Team UK to Abu Dhabi for the 2017 world finals. Gareth continues to work as a training manager alongside his role at the college.

Studying with us is not just about getting a qualification, it’s about becoming the person you want to be, with a future to look forward to.

Come to our next open evening. Meet the tutors, have a look around and feel assured that you are taking the right steps towards your career dates. Explore now.
