College: Turn your passion into a profession

28 June 2018

You. Yes, YOU. Ever fancied a career change? Or learning a new skill? Or wanted to retake your GCSE English or maths? Then Coleg Gwent can help. Sounds good, but isn’t college just for 16 -18 year olds?

Not true, 2,511 of our students are over the age of 18. Our students range from the ages of 16-65+, so you’re in good company. We welcome students from all walks of life and all ages; it’s never too late to start your college journey with us.

Did you know we’re one of Wales’ top performing colleges, first in Wales for vocational courses? So, we know our stuff.

If you wanted to learn about the world of work then you could take our Business Studies course. If you’ve ever fancied being behind the other side of the lens then why not check out our photography offering? Wanted to learn a new language so you can impress on holiday?

Then we have French and Spanish available.

These are just a few of the many subjects on offer. We have more than 150 courses for you to choose from to help you gain professional business skills, turn a hobby into a career and prepare you for employment. Browse the full catalogue of courses.

99% of our students passed in 2017, which was higher than the Welsh and UK averages. Why not join them?

Why should I choose Coleg Gwent?

We’re glad you asked. As we have five campuses across the Gwent county (more specifically Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Crosskeys, Pontypool and Usk), it’s likely that there’s a campus near you. This gives you the opportunity to study independently whilst learning close to home, spending less money and time on travel.

Also, if you enrol with us on one of our full-time courses, you can benefit from our Enrichment programme. The programme helps students develop skills such as digital literacy, problem solving and planning; skills that are in demand by Universities and employers (putting you in good stead against other candidates!). As well as gaining invaluable skills alongside your studies, you can take part in volunteering, competitions and college societies; all great things to add to your CV.
