1 December 2022

Our Employer Engagement department were delighted to sponsor the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s South Wales Argus Business Awards, which took place on Thursday 24th November. The event was held at the University of South Wales campus in Newport and guest enjoyed a great celebration of local business success throughout the evening.

At Coleg Gwent, we’re passionate about the longevity and prosperity of businesses in our area. Our Employer Engagement team works closely with our local business community, aiming to help ‘future proof’ businesses in the South East Wales area.

Lifetime Achievement Award

We therefore chose to sponsor the Lifetime Achievement Award at the South Wales Argus Business Awards as it reflects our values of business longevity and success, highlighting the positive impact that investment into an organisation’s future can bring. Huge congratulations to the winner of this category, Cintec International’s Peter James. Founded in 1984, Cintec specialises in retrofitted patented anchoring and reinforcing systems, including work on many of the world’s most iconic heritage buildings, including Buckingham Palace, the White House and even the pyramids in Egypt.

Employer Engagement is a key priority at Coleg Gwent, where we look to support local economic growth and invigorate our local business community. We also promote as many opportunities as possible for our students and want to revitalise industry links in our local area to produce motivated and work-ready college leavers.

We do this through a series of initiatives, including the provision of apprenticeships, providing access to government funding, accredited training for businesses, and the opportunity to become an employer partner helping to shape the local workforce of the future.

Dan Coles, Director of External Engagement, said:

“We were delighted to sponsor this year’s South Wales Argus Business Awards and enjoyed a fantastic celebration of local success on the night.

As a college, we’re committed to celebrating and supporting our local business community, as shown by the strong partnerships that we’ve developed with organisations across the South Wales area. We hope to continue to build on these over the coming year alongside making new business connections, working in partnership to bring mutual benefits for organisations and the workforce of the future.”
