City & Guilds Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement Level 3

In a nutshell

If you need to assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally related subject areas, for a qualification or otherwise, this course will help you improve how you use the various methods, including assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects and case studies. The course closely matches what used to be referred to as the D32/33 or A1 Award.

...anyone who assesses candidates in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.

Course content

The course gives learners the chance to develop and improve their assessment skills while achieving a professional qualification. It’s been developed for anyone working in accredited learning, non-accredited learning, the NQF and the QCF.

Learners will undertake one theory unit which looks at their knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment and one practical unit which covers how well they assess vocationally related achievement of others. The qualification will be partly judged on observed assessments for two real learners on two occasions against approved standards/criteria.

On average, this qualification takes up to 6 months and is assessed using a combination of portfolio – learners will need to produce evidence to prove they have the competence to meet the NVQ standards; and by observation – the assessor tests their knowledge, understanding and performance to make sure they can demonstrate competence in assessment.
