City & Guilds Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Level 3
In a nutshell
If you have staff who need to assess colleagues’ competence at work, for a qualification or otherwise, this course will help improve how they use the various methods, including observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The course closely matches what used to be referred to as the D32/33 or A1 Award.
This course is for...
…anyone who assesses candidates undertaking NVQs
…those who need to observe and sign off the competence of colleagues
The course gives learners the chance to develop and improve their assessment skills while achieving a professional qualification. It’s been developed for anyone working in accredited learning, non-accredited learning, the NQF and the QCF.
Learners will undertake one theory unit which looks at their knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment and one practical unit which covers how well they assess the competence of others. The qualification will be partly judged on observed assessments for two real learners on two occasions in a real work environment against approved standards/criteria.
On average, this qualification takes up to 6 months and is assessed using a combination of portfolio – learners will need to produce evidence to prove they have the competence to meet the NVQ standards; and by observation – the assessor tests their knowledge, understanding and work-based performance to make sure they can demonstrate competence in the workplace.
There are no formal entry requirements.
All courses may be subject to change and cancelled if deemed not viable to run.
