Course content

The Stage 3 Care qualification provides comprehensive training in horse care, focusing on the key responsibilities and skills needed as a Groom. Learners will explore the roles, rights, and responsibilities associated with the position, including managing stable environments, caring for horses, and ensuring their health and safety.

The course covers practical skills such as tack fitting, using studs, and understanding different bits, as well as addressing the nutritional needs and fitness requirements of horses. Learners will also study horse anatomy, physiology, and how to assess and manage common health conditions.

Additionally, the course examines horse behaviour, including how to manage undesirable behaviours, and provides guidance on turnout and pasture management. Students will learn how to assess a horse's conformation and ensure that they are physically fit and healthy.

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage horses effectively, promote equine welfare, and maintain high standards of care within the equine industry.
