In a nutshell

You’ll learn Electrical and Electronic engineering skills by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.

What will I be doing?

You’ll study units including:

    • Unit 1 Maths
    • Unit 2 Communications/Health and Safety/CAD
    • Unit 3 Engineering Product Design
    • Unit 4 Applied Commercial Quality
    • Unit 15 Electrical Machines
    • Unit 19 Electronic Devices and Circuits
    • Unit 22 Electronic Printed Circuits Board Manufacture

You’ll be assessed through assignments, reports, short tests, practical and portfolio work. Each assignment contains various tasks graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. Upon completion, you’ll achieve:

  • Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Skills Activities (to help you progress into employment)
  • Maths and English (if you do not hold a Grade C in Maths and English GCSE
  • Other relevant qualifications to enhance your skill set

What is expected of me?

To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics at Grade B and English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at minimum Merit Grade and GCSE Maths and English/Welsh First Language at C Grade or above.

You’ll have a flare at both Maths and Science and enjoy solving complex problems related to circuit design, construction and fault diagnosis.

Full commitment to attendance is required. You’ll need to be able to work independently and as part of a team and are expected to abide by the college code of conduct.
