- Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent Level 1 diploma, and GCSE Maths and English at grade D or above, or satisfactory completion of your skills course.
- Or Fast Fit Level 2 with a Merit profile and satisfactory completion of your skills course.
- Or direct entry with 4 D grade GCSE's to include Maths and English.

What will I be doing?
This course will provide an intermediate study of the technology and repair techniques associated with light vehicles and it will also prepare you for further study in the automotive industry.
There are five technical units broken down into chassis technology, engine technology, transmission technology, electrical and electronic technology, and general aspects (such as health and safety).
The course is delivered through:
- Practical demonstrations
- Realistic working tasks
- Lectures to develop foundation knowledge
- Assignment work
You’ll be assessed through practical and written assignments, and upon completion of the course, you’ll achieve:

- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
- Skills Activities
- English and Maths
What is expected of me?
To enrol on this course, you'll need to complete Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent Level 1 diploma, and you'll need GCSE Maths and English at grade D or above, or satisfactory completion of your skills course.
You can also join with successful completion of Fast Fit Level 2 with a Merit profile and satisfactory completion of your skills course.
There's also an option for direct entry to the course, with 4 D grade GCSE's to include Maths and English.
What comes next?
Following the successful completion of this Level 2 course, you can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance or an Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Additional information
You’ll need to purchase appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, such as boots and overalls, the cost of which is approximately £40.00. You’ll also need to supply your own stationery and folders.
