The course is divided into 5 units: two at AS Level and three at A2 Level. The AS qualification is gained at the end of the first year of study, followed by the full A Level qualification gained at the end of the two-year course.

In AS and A Level History, there are facts and concepts to understand about how the society in which we live has evolved. But in studying the subject, you’ll also develop essential skills such as research analysis, evaluation and communication.

Upon completion of the course, you’ll achieve:

  • A Level History

For the AS Level qualification in year 1, you’ll be required to pass two units:

  • UNIT 2: Nazi Germany (1918-1933) – Weimar Germany and The Rise of the Nazis.

For the A Level qualification in year 2, you’ll be required to pass two units in addition to the AS qualification:

  • UNIT 3: The American Century (1890-1990). The Struggle for Civil Rights and America as a Superpower.
  • UNIT 4: Nazi Germany (1933 – 1845) – Democracy & Dictatorship.
  • UNIT 5: Course-work. An extended piece of research on the effectiveness of generals in WWI. Were the soldiers ‘lions led by donkeys’?
