Course Overview
This course introduces you to a variety of skills required by the creative industries and will allow you to enhance your creative skillset for your desired creative pathway within media and photography.

What will I be doing?
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to work in a creative job involving technology and to progress to a Level 3 course in a related subject area (e.g. creative media, games design, art & design or photography).
You’ll build your understanding and practical abilities in a variety of processes and software and will complete a range of practical assignments. You’ll work independently and as a part of a team for practical assignments.
You’ll have access to the latest PC’s, Apple Mac computers and Adobe Creative Cloud software, along with excellent up-to-date facilities.
You will study a total of 8 units:

Unit 1 Introduction to creative media methods and skills

Unit 2 Introduction to production techniques in creative media

Unit 3 Understanding an audience in creative media production

Unit 4 Contextual research for creative media production

Unit 5 Exploring audio production and technology
-
Unit 6 Exploring visual production and technology
-
Unit 7 Exploring interactive media production and technology

Unit 8 Personal project and presentation in creative media production
You will take no exams, but formal moderation for each assignment will take part three times a year.
You’ll be assessed through research and analysis, written work, creative design, use of technology, problem solving, and evaluation. Upon completion, you’ll gain:
- UAL Level 2 Creative Media Production & Technology (Media & Photography)
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade D or above, to include either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language or an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification in the relevant vocational area.
You should be able to develop creative ideas and be willing to actively explore a wide range of technological processes. Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the subject. There is also an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework independently during your own time.
A range of Creative Level 3 Extended Diplomas, such as the BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production, UAL Level 3 Photography.
Successful completion of Level 3 Extended Diploma would allow you to progress to higher education and university courses.
You’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade D or above to include either Maths/Numeracy or English/Welsh 1st Language.
OR
An appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification at Merit grade with GCSE Maths/Numeracy at Grade D or English/Welsh 1st Language at Grade D or above.
