To develop your practical skills, you’ll have access to a studio with state-of-the-art digital equipment. You’ll be encouraged to take part in numerous music events throughout the UK.
You’ll be assessed through exams, portfolio, coursework and practical assessments and you’ll achieve:
- RSL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners (Year 1)
- RSL Level 3 Extended Diploma for Music Practitioners (Year 2)
- Welsh Baccalaureate
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
- Other relevant qualifications to enhance your skill set
You’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at Merit Grade.
You need to have a keen interest in music and have the enthusiasm and drive to develop your practical skills. Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You should also have the enthusiasm and positive attitude that future employers will be looking for.
There’s an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time. You’ll also be expected to attend as many events as possible and network with as many people as you can.
You could progress to a music-related course at university or enter employment in areas such as live sound, lighting, AMP or Drum Tech or performing at semi-pro level.
You’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above to include either Maths or English/Welsh 1st Language; or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at Merit grade.
Guitarists will need their own guitar or bass. All students will need a guitar lead and drumsticks.
