This course introduces you to the skills required by the various media industries.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to work in a creative job involving technology and to progress to a Level 3 course in a related subject area (e.g. creative media, interactive media, games design, graphics or photography).
You’ll build your understanding and practical abilities in a variety of processes and software and will complete a range of practical assignments. You’ll work independently and as a part of a team for practical assignments.
You’ll have access to the latest Apple Mac computers and Adobe Creative Cloud software, along with excellent up-to-date facilities.
Media modules include:
- Website Design
- Animation Production
- Photography
- Audio/Visual Production
- 2D Games Design
- Analyzing a Media Product
You’ll be assessed through research and analysis, written work, creative design, use of technology, problem solving, and evaluation. Upon completion, you’ll gain:
OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media Level 2
Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade D or above, to include either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language or an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification in the relevant vocational area, to include either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language.
You should be able to develop creative ideas and be willing to explore a wide range of technological processes. Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the subject. There is also an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
A range of Creative Level 3 Extended Diplomas, such as the Metaverse Design, UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma Creative Media Production or Games Design.
Potential career opportunity in the media industry in roles such as animator, commissioning editor, digital marketer, editorial assistant, film director, film/video editor, graphic designer, lighting technician, broadcasting/film/video, location manager, magazine features editor, magazine journalist, media planner, print production planner, programme researcher, radio.
You’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, including either Maths or English/Welsh 1st Language, or an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification, including either Maths or English/Welsh 1st Language Grade D or above.
As part of this course, you’ll need to pay studio fees, purchase sketch books, painting and drawing materials. Trip fees for gallery visits and events may also be payable throughout the year.
