Entry Requirements
To enter the course, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade D or above, to include either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification in the relevant vocational area, to include either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language.
Progressing Level 1 learners to achieve MM grade and to have demonstrated progression and engagement in Skills.

What will I be doing?
This course is ideal for learners wanting to work in the health or social care industry, who want to undertake a regular work placement alongside a comprehensive vocational course.
The qualification covers the fundamental knowledge and understanding of the All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) for Health and Social Care, and reflects a range of different roles and settings.
The content covers:
- the principles and values of health and social care (adults)
- health and well-being
- professional practice as a health and social care worker
- safeguarding individuals
- health and safety in health and social care. As well as a further four units that cover the Principles and Contexts of Health and Social Care.
You’ll learn through group work, classroom-based learning and a work experience, which is a compulsory part of the programme.
You’ll be assessed through multiple choice and examinations and you’ll achieve:
Level 2 Health and Social Care - Adult Core and Principles and Context.
Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry such as;
- Food Hygiene
- Emergency First Aid
- Agored Science Units
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
What is expected of me?
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the health and social care industry. You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies whilst undertaking work placement.
What comes next?
Opportunity to progress onto Level 3 Principles and Context or Level 2 City & Guilds Practice (Work Based Learning - Adults).
Additional information
All learners will have to undertake a satisfactory DBS check at the beginning of the course to allow them to take part in the mandatory work placement unit.
