Course Overview
This course is designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to progress onto our Access to HE, or any other level 3 courses.
It is designed for learners who may have been out of full-time education for at least 2 years, helping you to refresh and learn the essential study skills you need for success.

The course aims to improve both your numeracy and literacy skills by offering Level 1 Maths and Level 2 English. You’ll also have an introduction to Biology, General Science, Sociology, Psychology and Humanities, and you’ll learn valuable research skills, which will be essential on other Level 3 courses.
You’ll be assessed through a variety of assignments, including written coursework and you’ll achieve:
- Level 2 Skills or Further Study
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set
- Skills Activities
A determination to do well, passion for learning, and a keen interest to improve your numeracy and literacy skills are a must for this course. Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation.
You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
After successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to go on to employment or an Access to Higher Education course.
All prospective students are interviewed and assessed prior to being offered a place. A basic level of maths (at least Entry 3) and English (at least Level 1) is required for this course.
