Staff from Coleg Gwent have been recognised for their commitment to learning Welsh at the 2026 Welsh Learning Awards Ceremony, held at the College’s Newport Campus.
The ceremony celebrated participants in the Work Welsh programme, recognising the dedication and hard work they have shown in developing their Welsh language skills alongside their professional roles.
Certificates were presented by Coleg Gwent Principal Nicola Gamlin, who congratulated colleagues on their achievement.
Nicola said:
“Learning Welsh takes dedication and determination, particularly when balancing study alongside work and other commitments. I would like to congratulate everyone recognised at this year’s awards ceremony. Their achievements demonstrate a real commitment to personal development and help strengthen our ability to provide a welcoming bilingual environment across the College.”

The Work Welsh programme supports employees across Wales to develop their Welsh language skills, helping to increase confidence in using Welsh in the workplace and creating more opportunities to use the language in everyday life.
Coleg Gwent is committed to promoting and supporting the Welsh language, and the success of those recognised at the awards highlights the important role staff play in fostering a bilingual culture across the College.
