Course Overview
Classroom support in schools is vital in helping children reach their full potential – and if working in a support role appeals to you, this course will give you the knowledge you need.
This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning; delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; bilingual support; special needs support; personal development and reflective practice.
You’ll be expected to gain practical experience in working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or ALN schools, as well as colleges for 1 day per week, as an employee or volunteer. If you are studying part time, then it’s important you arrange your placement before enrolling.
