For entry to this course, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English/Welsh First Language or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at Merit Grade.

Progressing Level 2 learners will need to successfully complete CCPLD Level 2 programme and demonstrate engagement and progress in Skills (Literacy/Numeracy).

What will I be doing?

This is a two-year programme, typically 3 days on campus and 2 days in a work placement.

You’ll need to undertake a minimum of 700 hours on placement over the two-year period, whilst undertaking theoretical components in college.

Learners will undertake various assessments during placements, alongside internal and external assessments for theoretical components.

On completion of the course, you'll achieve:

  • Level 3 Children 's Care, Learning and Development, Core and Practice Theory
  • L2 Core CCPLD
  • Food Hygiene
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • WJEC Skills Challenges (Advanced)

What is expected of me?

You’ll be expected to commit to 5 days of study, which includes both the teaching of the knowledge element of the qualifications in college and work placement days/blocks for the competency element of the qualifications.

Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the care industry.

What comes next?

Following completion of this course, you could consider Higher Education courses in related areas or employment in roles such as care worker, child minder, nursery nurse, play group assistants, nursery assistants, creche assistants, out of school childcare worker or Cylch Meithrin assistant.

All learners will have to have a satisfactory DBS check prior to starting this course.
