Course Overview
This course supports and empowers learners to develop their employability skills through the qualification.
This means that young people are ready for the demands of the workplace and employers have employees that meet their standards and expectations.
…you’re seeking employment and would like to develop a more varied skillset.
…you’ve been out of education for at least 2 years and you want to progress to higher level courses.
…you’re determined to do well and want to improve your skills.
This course aims to improve your ability to apply for work. As well as learning in the workplace, you will also cover:
- Entrepreneurship and enterprise
- Customer service
- Career Planning
- Performance at work
- Working with others
- Health and Safety
- ICT in the workplace
All prospective students are interviewed and assessed prior to being offered a place.
A determination to do well and passion for learning are a must for this course. Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation.
You will be expected to attend a work placement as part of this course.
You’ll be continually assessed through a portfolio and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
After successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to go into employment or progress onto another Coleg Gwent course.
A basic level of maths (at least Entry 3) and English (at least Level 1) you will also have achieved a Level 1 Diploma at grade pass or above.
