Throughout the course, you will study a range of core people management modules, including:
- Employment Relationship Management,
- Talent Management and Workforce Planning,
- Reward for Performance and Contribution,
- Organisational Performance and Culture in Practice,
- Evidence‑Based Practice,
- Professional Behaviours and Valuing People, and
- Learning and Development Essentials.
Classes are interactive, collaborative, and designed to help you draw on your own experience while learning from peers.
To achieve the qualification, you will complete an assignment for each of the seven modules, giving you the chance to apply learning directly to real workplace situations.
To get the most from this course, you will need to be committed, organised, and ready to actively take part in your learning journey. This is a professional qualification, so independent study alongside your taught sessions is essential.
You will be expected to:

Support will be available from your tutors throughout the course to guide you and help you stay on track.
This diploma prepares you for a rewarding career in people management, opening doors to HR advisory, HR business partnering, and management-level people roles. After completing Level 5, you also have the option to progress to the CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma to further enhance your expertise and career opportunities.
This qualification is designed for learners aged 18+ who want to learn about people practice.
You will need either a Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice or relevant experience in a people management role.
Entry is subject to a professional discussion to ensure this course is the right fit for your knowledge and career goals.
CIPD’s Intermediate Certificates provide a professionally recognised qualification and it is essential that you become CIPD member once you start studying the qualification.
The course price does not include CIPD student membership registration fees (which must be paid directly to the CIPD).
This part time course is normally delivered over one day a week for 33 weeks.
