Course Overview
This course covers a range of painting and decorating techniques at an intermediate level.

… You enjoy studying through practical learning
You’ll develop the expertise to work independently and establish a firm grasp of advanced decorative effects. It covers the following skills:
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
- Preparing surfaces for decoration
- Applying paint systems by brush and roller
- Applying foundation and plain papers
- Producing specialist decorative finishes
- Applying and creating colour
The course is delivered by both practical sessions in excellent workshop facilities and theory lessons to underpin the knowledge learnt in the practical sessions.
The course is assessed through practical projects, written and online tests and you’ll achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
- Other relevant qualifications to enhance your skill set
To enter into the course, you need a Level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating and either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language Grade C or above.
You need to have a desire to work in the construction industry. Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
Level 3 Diploma in Painting & Decorating, an Apprenticeship or employment.
Level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating and either GCSE Maths/Numeracy or English/Welsh 1st Language Grade C or above.
