Course Overview

The Progression in Electrical course gives you a broad but in-depth insight into the work and skills of an electrician. This course will prepare you for a career as an Electrician in the construction industry.

… You are interested in an apprenticeship or career as an electrical installer
… You have already achieved the Level 2 (Foundation) Diploma electrical
… You want both practical and theoretical knowledge

The Progression in electrical Studies course offers you the chance to develop your skills and knowledge to a high standard recognised by the industry.

You’ll learn how to install and test a range of electrical circuits in our well-equipped workshops.

You’ll cover a range of units during the course, including:

  • Performing Electrical Installation
  • Understand How to Install Enclosures for Electrical Cables, Conductors and Wiring Systems
  • Understand How to Install and Connect Electrical Cables, Conductors, Wiring Systems and Equipment
  • Understand How to Inspect and Test De-Energised Electrical Circuits
  • Understand Intermediate Electrical Science and Principles

The course is delivered by both practical sessions in excellent workshop facilities and theory lessons to underpin the knowledge learnt in the practical sessions.

You’ll be assessed through practical projects, written and online tests and, once complete, you’ll achieve:

To enter the course, you will need a Level 2 (Foundation) Diploma in Electrical

and

either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language Grade C or above

Learners on this course normally progress into an Apprenticeship or Employment in Electrical Installations.

To enter the course, you’ll need a Level 2 (Foundation) Diploma in Electrical and either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language Grade C or above.

You’ll need to purchase appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at an approximate cost of £40.00, as well as your own stationery equipment.
