Course Overview
If you are passionate about starting a career in barbering, this evening course will give you the basic skills and knowledge you need to enable you to progress to a NVQ Level 2 in Barbering.

…anyone who wants to pursue a career in barbering
During the course you will study the following units:
- Working in the hair industry
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Client consultation for hair services
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Cut men’s hair
- The art of colouring hair
- Styling men’s hair
You will be assessed for the qualification by undertaking practical tasks and on-line tests.
You can progress onto Certificate Level 2 in Women’s Hairdressing.
There are no formal entry requirements but a keen interest in barbering, the ability to communicate well and to be well presented is essential.
Full attendance is essential to successfully complete the course.
To reflect industry expectations, you will be required to wear a Coleg Gwent salon uniform at a cost of £33.00 and a barbering kit at a cost of £130.00. College staff will be able to direct you to the approved supplier if / when needed. Full uniform and dress code will be discussed on the first evening of the course
