Course Overview

A fresh start for young people returning to education.

Foundation courses at Coleg Gwent support young people aged 16 to 18 who may be returning to education, need additional support, or have yet to find the right learning environment.

  • Manageable units designed to build confidence and skills step by step
  • Dedicated coaches and strong teaching and pastoral support
  • Development of interpersonal skills and behaviours that support future employment
  • Clear progression routes into Level 1 courses and further education

Foundation courses combine vocational tasters, Essential Skills and enrichment opportunities  to help learners find the right fit and ignite a passion for learning. These tasters give learners the chance to try new areas, discover strengths and before making decisions about their next step within their learner journey.

Learners may explore subject areas such as:

  • Art, Design, Media and Photography
  • Business and Accounting
