Course Overview
Modern manufacturing requires a workforce who are skilled in using the latest composite materials, up to date computer automated machines and 3D printing techniques. This 2 year BTEC Extended Diploma will give you the skills and knowledge needed to get ahead in this fast paced industry. It is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
… you want a career in modern manufacturing engineering
… you want to work with up to date manufacturing processes
… you love seeing new product ideas come to life
The course is assessed through a range of practical workshop activities, assignments and external online tests.
By studying this course you will:
- develop the basic maths, electrical and mechanical principles required in the industry.
- learn about the industry and expectations when working in manufacturing.
- complete practical tasks in well equipped workshops including work with modern computer controlled machines, 3D printing and scanning machines.
- learn how to develop your product ideas using computer aided design and manufacturing techniques.
In the second year you will be able to pull all of the skills together in an industry relevant project.
At the end of the course you will achieve
- BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing)
