In a nutshell
Chainsaws have a variety of uses but can potentially cause serious accidents without proper training or because operators’ skills aren’t up to date. This qualification is about the mainteance of a chainsaw and cutting timber already at ground level.
This course teaches excellent health and safely practice and demonstrates your competency in using a chainsaw.
This qualification is your 'gateway' to other NPTC approved chainsaw qualifications.
This course is for...
…a career as a landscape gardener, tree surgeon, woodland ranger or any number of outdoor jobs
…refreshing your skills in maintaining and using a chainsaw.
Course content
This qualification shows you’ve been independently assessed by the National Proficiency Test Council with regards to current legislation, the fundamentals of chainsaw operation and the safe use and maintenance of chainsaws.
On completion, you’ll be able to move on to the NPTC CS31 Felling Small Trees qualification.
Entry Requirements
No experience is needed, but you must be aged 19 years or older.
This course must be completed before embarking on any other NPTC approved chainsaw qualification.
Additional information
You’ll need to bring:
- Personal protective/safety clothing – alternatively we can lend you some if necessary
- Two passport-sized photographs
- A packed lunch and refreshments, or money to buy lunch in college
