Combining theory and hands-on coaching experience, the course focuses on planning and delivering effective sessions, developing communication skills, and understanding the standards expected of a Stage 2 Coach.

This interactive and practical course is designed to help you develop the skills required to become an effective and confident riding coach. You’ll explore the key principles of coaching and learn how to create enjoyable, safe and progressive lessons for a variety of riders.
Throughout the course, you will:
- Develop an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Stage 2 Coach, including duty of care, rider and horse welfare, safeguarding and professional conduct.
- Learn how to identify and respond to the needs of different riders, including children, adults and those with varying experience levels.
- Explore how riders learn and develop skills, helping you adapt your coaching style to support confidence, motivation and progression.
- Gain experience in planning and delivering engaging coaching sessions that are appropriate for both horse and rider.
- Build your knowledge of coaching flatwork, jumping up to 75cm, lead rein and lunge sessions, using effective communication and feedback techniques.
- Learn how to assess risk, maintain safe coaching environments and make informed decisions that support the welfare of both horse and rider.
- Develop the confidence to observe performance, provide constructive feedback and encourage riders to achieve their goals.
