When Megan first joined Coleg Gwent as a 16-year-old, she wasn’t sure what the future held. Like many young people, she didn’t have a clear career path in mind, but she did know she loved art. And that spark of creativity turned out to be the start of something amazing.
Today, Megan is the proud founder of The Face Boss, a thriving makeup studio and brand that’s earned her a loyal following, taken her across the world, and seen her working with TV personalities, brides, and beauty lovers everywhere.
Meg has even launched her own lash line and delivers training courses to the next generation of makeup artists.
But how did it all begin? With a course in Theatrical Makeup at Coleg Gwent.
Speaking to Meg, she said: “The course was great because it really brought me out of my comfort zone and introduced me to my love of body painting.”
“It helped me grow in confidence and gave me the skills and connections that prepared me for a career in makeup.”
From learning the foundations of special effects and theatrical artistry to exploring her creative side, Megan’s time at Coleg Gwent gave her the space to discover her passion—and the encouragement to follow it. The support she received from her tutors made a lasting impact, too.
“My tutors were amazing, and I’m still in contact with them now. My overall experience at the college was incredible.”
After college, Meg landed a role with MAC Cosmetics, joining their national body painting team and taking part in events across the UK. That experience helped her build her reputation, hone her skills, and eventually, take the leap into launching her own business.
Now, as a self-employed makeup artist, Megan’s days are filled with bridal bookings, creative workshops, and the freedom to travel.
“I love every part of what I do. Having my own business means I can manage my own diary. I even got to travel for four months—it’s a dream come true.”
Megan’s advice for future creatives?
“I’d encourage anyone to come to Coleg Gwent. It helped me grow my confidence and take my career to the next level.”
