Where to live while you’re at Coleg Gwent

Coleg Gwent doesn’t have its own hall of residence accommodation for Higher Education students but there are various private halls and lets in the Newport area – some links have been provided below. Other types of accommodation are available but please be aware that none is approved or vetted by Coleg Gwent.

International Students

When you come and study with us, you’ll find various options of where to live.


The Newport Student Village gives you the chance to be in the heart of Newport with other students from across the city. It has 442 bedrooms on-site, split into 88 flats in four blocks, is a great way to meet new friends and enjoy Newport’s social scene.

Staying here, you’ll have:

  • A bedroom with en suite facilities
  • Access to a communal kitchen and dining areas
  • Access to large social spaces with Sky TV, an Xbox and cinema room
  • Full WiFi access
  • Use of onsite laundry facilities


Your rent will depend on the size of your room, but single rooms start from £112 per week and double rooms from £119 per week. Rent includes Wi-Fi, electricity, water and contents insurance.

If you’d prefer the comforts of a family home, our Homestay scheme is for you. It means you’ll be able to live with a local family and stay in comfortable, safe accommodation, giving you the perfect opportunity to settle into your new life in the UK.

With a Homestay family, you’ll have:

  •  A bedroom, bedding, towels and basic furniture, including a bed
  • A clothes cupboard
  • A study table
  • Access to a bathroom
  • A key to the property
  • Breakfast each morning
  • An evening meal
  • Use of the kitchen
  • Use of the washing machine


Homestay accommodation costs £110 per week, which includes bed, breakfast and evening meal. You’ll need to pay a deposit of £100 and your first two months’ rent on arrival.
