Course Overview
This course is designed to provide you with a basic overview of the technology and repair techniques associated with light vehicles. It’ll also prepare you for further study in the automotive industry.

Some of the core and additional units you’ll study include:
- Lubrication
- Cooling systems
- Exhausts
- Ignition systems
- Electrical systems
- Braking systems
- Transmission systems
- Steering systems
- Suspension systems
- Wheels and tyres
- Valeting
This course is assessed through a range of activities, such as written and practical examinations. Upon completion, you’ll gain:
- Entry Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
No formal qualifications are required, but you must have a genuine interest in vehicle technology. A basic grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering skills would also be an advantage.
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You’ll be expected to abide by the college ethos and be willing to participate in improving your level of academic subjects.
Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance or an Apprenticeship.
No formal qualifications required, however you must have a genuine interest in vehicle technology. A basic grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering skills would also be an advantage
