Course Overview
An apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is a 2 year course where you are employed by a vehicle maintenance and repair company, usually a garage, and attend college 1 day/week.
Foundation apprentices (Level 2) will train as:
Service Technicians/Technicians, learning how to test and repair a range of vehicles
Technical training is provided in college 1 day per week, including time in practical workshops.
Completion of a portfolio of evidence
Work based observations
Theory based tasks and tests
To enter this course, you will need the Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at a Merit Grade and GCSE English and Maths with a grade C or above.
You can also gain direct entry to the course with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above to include Maths/Numeracy, English and a Science.
A Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence is completed in the workplace.
