Course Overview

An apprenticeship in Engineering Toolmaking is a 2 year course where you are employed and attend college 1 day/week.

A Level 3 Engineering Toolmaking apprenticeship that teaches individuals to become skilled toolmakers. This includes developing competencies in areas like health and safety, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), precision machining, and the maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.

Technical training is provided in the college 1 day per week, including time in practical workshops.

Work-based observations
Theory-based tasks and tests

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including a C in English or Welsh Language and a B in Maths, along with three other Cs (preferably Science or related subjects), or to have successfully completed an appropriate Level 2 qualification with a Merit profile. More mature learners will be considered based on entry qualifications and/or your experience.

A Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Toolmaking is completed in the workplace. The Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies or BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering is completed part-time at the College.
