Course Overview
Through this course, you’ll develop vital knowledge and understanding within the business sector, along with practical work related skills. You’ll gain key transferable skills which can be used in a range of industries. This course is equivalent to four GCSE at Grade A-C.

In this inspiring course, you’ll focus on the skills you need in this industry to gain employment with local employers or further your education.
You’ll cover a wide range of topics and look at current issues and trends within the business environment to gain up-to-date knowledge. You’ll study finance, customer service, marketing and small business planning, along with gaining work experience.
Modules include:
- Enterprise in the business world
- Finance for Business (examined)
- Principles of Marketing (examined)
- Business Online
- Small Business Planning
- Sales and Personal Selling
- Delivering and Improving Customer Service
- Project Management
You’ll be assessed in various ways including practical activities, peer assessment, work placements and assignments that are based upon realistic workplace situations, and you’ll sit two exams in marketing and finance.
Full commitment to attendance is required, as well as respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll share ideas and knowledge as you work independently and with group projects.
You’ll be continually assessed through coursework, which will include written and practical activities, group discussions, debates, attend a work placement, presentation skills, working with others, as well as examinations. There’s an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to progress onto Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business or another related Level 3 programme.
Entry requirements are:
- a minimum of 4 GCSEs grade D or above, including either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language
- OR an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification in the relevant vocational area to include either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language grade D.
You’ll be expected to make a subsidised contribution to trips and enterprise activities.
