Course Overview
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 5 Award in Radiofrequency Microneedling Treatments is a beauty aesthetic qualification aimed at level 4 qualified practitioners aged 18 and over, who wish to add advanced needling techniques to their repertoire of treatment offerings.
This qualification is informed by employers and national and international standards for aesthetic beauty and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a fully commercial radiofrequency microneedling practitioner.

Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure. It uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin. The treatment is a form of controlled skin injury. The damage stimulates the growth of healthy new skin, which can benefit common skin issues like acne scars and wrinkles.
This course will develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills when performing skin rejuvenation treatments using radiofrequency microneedling techniques. You will enhance skills in providing a thorough consultation to establish client suitability for treatment alongside the knowledge on how to devise a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client needs and requirements.You will also further develop the knowledge required to provide pre and post-treatment advice and aftercare, including any further treatments needed to ensure the client receives the full benefit of the treatment and maximise results.

- Safety considerations
- Protocols and guidelines for treatment
- Analysis of RF Microneedling techniques
- Consultation, planning and preparation
- Application of RF Microneedling techniques
Assessment is through an assignment, a practical exam and clinical case studies and you will be awarded the VTCT Level 5 Award in Radio Frequency Microneedling.
On completion of this course you can progress onto other Level 4 and 5 courses including:
- Level 4 Award in Skin Peeling
- Level 4 Award in Microblading Eyebrows
- Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning
You will need to hold a Level 4 Radio Frequency qualification and be aged 18 or over.
Please note that from 2024, local authorities require that you complete mandatory training to obtain registration to practice. The mandatory, one day training course in Infection Prevention Control will be available to you at Coleg Gwent.
You will be required to wear a clinic uniform and suitable footwear.
The course fees include tuition and registration fees. Tuition fees are due at the time of booking/enrolment. If required, this can be by direct debit, over five instalments.If your employer is funding your course, confirmation of this in writing will be required so that the college can arrange to invoice them.
It is essential that you are able to provide 4 – 6 clients as case studies for your assessments.
