In a nutshell

Our Electrical Engineering HNC Level 4 is delivered in collaboration with University of South Wales (USW) and you will be graduated from University of South Wales after successful completion of this course.

The course provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector. Nationally recognised by employers, the course also allows for further study at degree level and beyond.

The programme is designed in consultation with industry, and intended to link local industry as much as possible, both in its content and in the mode of attendance.

The aim is to produce a highly qualified and knowledgeable engineers who can meet the requirements of industry. This is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work-related emphasis.

Course content

The course provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector.

You will study units including:

Year 1

  • Electrical Technology
  • Engineering Mathematics
  • Analogue & Digital Systems

Year 2

  • Robotics and PLC's
  • Industrial Project
  • Concepts of Instrumentations

You will learn through a mixture of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions and end of year exams.

Learners will be assessed via coursework and examination.

Entry Requirements

You would usually need at least one of the following:

A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit

CC at A Level

CC grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate

Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 passes in an Engineering background

Plus: GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Maths and English.

Additional information

You can progress onto a HND Engineering or a related Foundation Degree.
