Course Overview

This course is an in-depth and dynamic insight into the complex technology and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles. If you progress onto a motor vehicle apprenticeship, this course will provide you with the complete theory component required for it.

You will cover the following vehicle technical units as part of your studies:

  • Routine vehicle maintenance
  • Light vehicle engine technology
  • General aspects (such as health & Safety)
  • Vehicle electrical and electronic systems
  • Light vehicle chassis technology
  • Vehicle inspections
  • Light vehicle transmission systems

You’ll be assessed via practical competence tasks and observations, written assignments and online tests.

Upon completion of this course, you will achieve:

City & Guilds Diploma Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Level 2

  • Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry

To enter this course, you will need a minimum of 4 GCSE’s at grade C or above, to include Maths, English and Science.  If you are progressing from a Level 1 qualification, you will also need a merit grade from your previous course.

You’ll need to purchase appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, such as boots and overalls, the cost of which is approximately £40.00. You’ll also need to supply your own stationery and folders.
