This course is delivered through group work/class discussions, classroom-based learning and work experience, which is a compulsory part of the course.
You will be assessed by examination and NEA non-examination assessments and you’ll achieve:
- Level 3 Health and Social Care
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
Successful completion of the Level 3 Health and Social Care: Principles and Contexts will allow you to progress on to the second year and complete the full course programme. From there, you can go on to Higher Education or employment in statutory, voluntary and private vocational sectors in care work, community work, public service, education welfare or support work.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above to include Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language. Students should also have at least a D grade in Biology or Science; or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at Merit grade with GCSE Grade C or above in Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language.
All learners must have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check prior to starting the course (at their own cost).
DBS applications must be carried out at Coleg Gwent.
DBS Update Service – any learners who are currently on the DBS Update Service will need to allow Coleg Gwent staff access to their DBS Update Service account.
