The College recognises that learners have a fundamental right to be protected from harm and that they should be given the opportunity to gain the maximum benefit possible from high quality education and training opportunities.   
The College acknowledges its duties and responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of learners. It has a statutory and moral duty to exercise its functions whilst safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults receiving education and training at the College

The College is committed to working with relevant organisations, to take all reasonably practicable steps, to ensure that the legal and pastoral duties owed to learners in respect of child and vulnerable adult protection are discharged in accordance with current legislation, relevant professional guidance and best practice.

The College shares an objective with all Local Authorities, Police and stakeholders in the education service to help keep children and vulnerable adults safe by contributing to the creation of a safe learning environment; identifying where there are child and vulnerable adult welfare concerns and taking action to address them with other agencies.
