Celebrating Success at Coleg Gwent

Every year, our learners, staff, and community achieve remarkable things that make us proud to be one of Wales’s top colleges for choice. From national awards to personal triumphs, every success reflects our shared commitment to excellence, inclusion, and opportunity.

Behind every achievement at Coleg Gwent are our dedicated tutors and staff. Their efforts have been recognised through some of the most respected awards in the sector, including the Pearson National Teaching Awards, Inspire! Tutor Awards, and South Wales Argus Education Awards.

Our focus on innovation in learning has also earned recognition in STEM, with our teams being Highly Commended as STEM Team of the Year and STEM Ambassador Award winners at the Wales STEM Awards.

Our learners continue to prove that ambition and hard work pay off. As a WorldSkills Centre of Excellencewe’re proud to nurture talent that competes on some of the biggest stages. Our learners have achieved outstanding results in Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills UK, bringing home multiple gold medals in areas such as Personal Training and Digital Game Art. Others have showcased their creativity and talent by reaching the finals of the Young Pastry Chef of the Year competition.

Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We were proud to support a learner to complete a degree using British Sign Language – the first of its kind in Wales – a milestone that reflects our belief in breaking down barriers to education.

We also celebrated another first when our additional needs learners embarked on an overseas trip to France, creating lifelong memories while building confidence and independence.

We’re constantly looking ahead to open new doors for learners and communities. From pioneering programmes like our Access to Medicine course to our Football Excellence Programme with Cwmbran Celtic and the Dragons Junior Rugby Academy, which has produced age-grade and full internationals, we’re helping learners turn their passions into pathways.

Beyond the classroom, our impact extends into the community. The Greater Gwent Adult Learning Partnership, of which we’re proud to be part, received glowing praise from Estyn for its transformative work in adult education.

Our commitment to high standards is reflected in national recognition. A QAA Review praised Coleg Gwent across all academic requirements with no areas for improvement, while the CIPD Awards commended our approach to learning and development. Our dedication to safety and sustainability has also been acknowledged through ISO certifications and a National Environmental Award.
