Course Overview
Whether you want to work with the hearing-impaired or simply have an interest in learning a different way of communicating, this course is an excellent introduction to sign language.
…anyone with an interest in learning sign language.
As well as being keen to learn a new language, you’ll need to be fully committed to attending as well as respecting others and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
You’ll study two mandatory units at the same time over 10 weeks, in which you’ll learn to communicate and understand British Sign Language:
- Receive British Sign Language
- Produce British Sign Language
You’ll be assessed through practical sessions in the classroom, demonstrations and a portfolio of evidence and video evidence, with assessments planned to suit you in terms of short individual tasks or ones that combine a number of criteria. On completion, you’ll achieve the Agored Cymru Entry Level Award in British Sign Language.
There are no formal requirements.
After this course, you could move on to an appropriate Level 1 qualification.
