Course content
The course provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector.
You will study units including:
Year 1
- Engineering Design
- Engineering Maths
- Engineering Science
- Mechanical Principles
Year 2
- Managing a Professional Eng. Project
- Materials, Properties & Testing
- Fundamentals of Thermodynamics and Heat Engines
- Electro, Pnuematic & Hydraulic Systems
You will learn through a mixture of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions.
Assessment
Learners will be assessed via mainly coursework and few examinations.
Entry Requirements
To enter this course, you'll need the Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Motorcycle).
However, we consider each applicant on an individual basis and you can receive an offer based on qualifications, experience and personal profile.
Additional information
Upon completion, you can progress onto a Level 5 HND in Mechanical Engineering or the first/second year of a university degree programme.
Alternatively, you can go into technician engineering positions.
You will attend college eight hours per week, 30 weeks per year.
