Coleg Gwent reflects on successful year and looks ahead with optimism to the future

Coleg Gwent’s third AGM celebrated excellent outcomes for students and exciting new partnerships with the employer community in the region.
Reporting on the College’s outstanding 2016-17 performance, Principal and Chief Executive, Guy Lacey confirmed excellent outcomes for students and the college as a whole, supported by a successful financial performance. He also highlighted the many successes celebrated by learners during the year at regional and national skills competitions.
Chair of Governors, Angela Lloyd said: “The College’s success and sound financial performance is critically important to allow us to continue to invest for the future, both in terms of major capital projects such as the Newport Knowledge Quarter and in initiatives such as the launch of our partnership working with the Careers Colleges Trust”.
James Crawford, Chair of the Coleg Gwent Employers’ Forum and Chief Executive of Johnsey Estates, highlighted how Coleg Gwent is working hard to engage with employers across the region.
Principal Guy Lacey added: “This dialogue is essential to ensure that we are delivering an employer-led curriculum that equips our students for the workplace.”
