Three teams of students from Coleg Gwent have made the Welsh final of the Money for Life Challenge. They will compete against other Welsh finalists at the Wales National final at the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff on 28th April.
The teams were initially given £500 each to develop projects to encourage money management in their local community. Their projects included beauty therapy in the community, reasonably priced gym membership and voucher booklets for local retailers.
The three teams, include Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone’s ‘Be In Th' Know With Ya Dough’ and Crosskey Campus’ ‘Gym Value for Money’ and ‘Beauty Therapy Community’.
Coleg Gwent’s Enterprise Leader, Vanessa Janes-Evans said: “We are thrilled to have three teams in the final of the Money for Life Challenge. They have all worked so hard and I know the whole college will be wishing them well in the final.”
The overall winner of the Welsh Money for Life Challenge will go on to compete against other national winners at the UK Grand Final in London on 28th May.
Money for Life Challenge is a national competition that provides a way for young people in further education, work-based learning and community learning sectors to develop money management skills and share them within their communities.
