College wins UK award for top training
Coleg Gwent’s business team are celebrating a trio of awards after this year’s Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Awards.
Coleg Gwent’s business team work with employers to provide a range of training, including the CIEH Level 4 qualification, the highest achievement in food safety and health and safety.
The CIEH annual awards ceremony recognises those who have excelled in the field of environmental health. The event was held at the House of Commons terrace in July.
CIEH President Janet Russell said: “Being able to hold this event in Parliament makes the symbolic and very real connection between the policies of government and the work that we do in practical implementation for the public good, for the health and wellbeing of the nation.”
Coleg Gwent was awarded Best Centre, Best Trainer and a Student Award for Health & Safety in the Workplace 2013. The awards reflect the excellence in training and the delivery of the CIEH training products and services.
Coleg Gwent’s award for CIEH Level 4 Best Centre was collected by centre coordinator Siobhain Davies, along with Coleg Gwent’s Jane Yates who received the Best Trainer Award. Student Andrea Davis was recognised for her amazing results having achieved the highest mark out of all students taking CIEH Level 4 Managing Food Safety qualifications in 2013.
Speaking after the event Siobhain Davies was thrilled: “Receiving the Best Centre Award is an outstanding achievement for us. The fact that Jane was awarded Best Tutor and Andrea achieved the highest mark of all CIEH students in 2013 is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of our staff and students.”
