First panto brings comedy chaos to Crosskeys
Coleg Gwent’s musical theatre students are set to bring colourful characters and plenty of fun to Crosskeys Campus with their first Christmas pantomime, Cinderella.
First and second year Extended Diploma Musical Theatre students will be treading the boards to bring audiences pantomime favorites including the Ugly Sisters, Fairy Godmother, Buttons and Cinderella.
“Comedy is a huge element of pantomime, and a great new skill for students to develop,” said lecturer Kate Greenaway.
“The production also features high energy song and dance performances so there’s something for everyone.”
Student Jaimee Colmer, 16, from Bargoed, moved to the area from Pembrokeshire to enrol on Coleg Gwent’s musical theatre course.
Jaimee, who has appeared in several TV dramas including ITV’s drama series Doc Martin, plays a key comedy role as one of the Ugly Sisters in the production, named ‘Shequanda’ by the cast.
“Learning about the skills involved in pantomime has been a brilliant experience,” she said. “I absolutely love being on stage, and have been to stage school in the past, but this course is the perfect way for me to develop my skills further.”
Evening performances are open to the public from 11-13 December at 7pm, X Block Theatre at Crosskeys Campus. Tickets are £5 and concessions £3. To book, please call 01495 333400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
