This City & Guilds accredited work-based qualification is designed for health and safety practitioners. The Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for the health and safety practitioner who is involved in the assessment of risks, hazards and determining strategies for control.
The NVQ is a means of demonstrating that a certain standard of competence has been achieved. In other words, that the safety practitioner is competent in their ability to perform the activities within an occupational function to the standards expected in employment.
The main units of the NVQ Level 3 Certificate are outlined below: - Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety - Promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace Investigate and evaluate health band safety incidents and complaints in the workplace - Review health and safety procedures in the workplace - Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace. A further two units need to be completed and can be chosen from the range below that best suit your employer or interest: - Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace - Make sure your own actions within the workplace aim to protect the environment - Review health and safety procedures in workplaces - Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace.
Successful completion of the course allows candidates to progress into employment, specialist IOSH qualifications, higher education or the following City & Guilds qualifications: Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and ILM management NVQs.
