Safeguarding

The College recognises that learners have a fundamental right to be protected from harm and that they should be given the opportunity to gain the maximum benefit possible from high quality education and training opportunities.

We acknowledge our duties and responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of learners. We have a statutory and moral duty to exercise the College’s functions whilst safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults receiving education and training with us.

We’re committed to working with relevant organisations to take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the legal and pastoral duties owed to learners, in respect of child and vulnerable adult protection, are discharged in accordance with current legislation, relevant professional guidance and best practice.

The College also shares an objective with all local authorities, police and stakeholders in the education service to help keep children and vulnerable adults safe by contributing to the creation of a safe learning environment; identifying where there are child and vulnerable adult welfare concerns and taking action to address them with other agencies.
