Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour. The A/AS Level course has been designed to develop a breadth of knowledge of psychology and critical thinking skills necessary for further study.

What will I be doing?
The first year of study (AS Level) covers the following areas:
- Biological, psychodynamic, behaviourist, cognitive, positive psychology and research methods.
The second year (A2 Level) builds on the knowledge and understanding gained in first year. The content includes:
- Criminal behaviours, schizophrenia, stress, controversies in psychology and applied research methods.
Upon completion of this course, you’ll gain:
- AS Level Psychology
- A Level Psychology
- Skills activities
- English and Maths
What is expected of me?
To enter the course, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English/Welsh First Language, Maths/Maths Numeracy and Grade B or above in Science
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there’s an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
What comes next?
A Level Psychology is very useful in a wide range of settings because of the unique range of skills acquired during the course. It has the rigour of a Science A Level and also develops literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills.
