This course includes the study of three media platforms - broadcast, print and e-media (the web and mobile technology). Key concepts include form (the texts), representation, media institutions and audiences.

What will I be doing?
The weighting for both the AS and A Level courses is 70% examination and 30% coursework, as these are now two separate qualifications.
The A Level course comprises two practical productions, allowing you to create electronic media, audio-visual and print materials, using Adobe Premier, Photoshop and WIX. The AS course requires you to produce one media product from the platforms listed above.
A Level Media requires you to sit two written examinations in the summer term over the two years. If you chose to take the AS Media course, you’ll be required to sit two exams in the summer term in addition to the coursework. Upon completion, you’ll achieve:

- Skills activities
- English and Maths
What is expected of me?
To enter, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English/Welsh First Language.
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there’s an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
What comes next?
You can progress to university courses in a media-based subject, such as TV and film studies, cultural studies or journalism, or communication related courses.
